5 Steps to Help You Design a Life You Love

One of our most loved Babe Chats was one Alarice did about how she designed her life. We were bloody stoked about that because that’s the whole reason we help Babes create brands - so that they can succeed and create the life they dream of. 

Here are 5 steps steps to help you start designing that life you want:


1. Tell me what you want, what you really really want.

The Spice Girls knew what’s up. Think about what you want out of life. Think big Babe! Do you want to be able to travel, to be able to make a difference in your passion area, to be able to have more time with your kiddos? Delve deeper into what that really looks like for you and most of all how you feel when you have this. Pop all of these onto an inspiration board so that it’s in front of your eyes. 


2. Put parameters on it.

When do you want this life to happen? Is it before your kids turn 5 and go to school, is it more of an ongoing thing like being able to travel three or more times a year, when is it? Once you have a timeline you can work out what you need to do to get there. It’s also important to put money parameters on that dream too - a Babes gotta live! Work out what you need to be making to cover your bills. For instance if your dream is more time with your kids  and you have a maximum number of hours you want to work, then knowing your numbers will help you decide where you work, if you create hours that work with kids naptimes, or something else entirely like opening a home-based childcare.


3. Work out what will make that happen.

Once you have a big life aim and a timeline, you can work out what you need to do to make that happen. For instance, Alarice knew she wanted to travel and be able to live in Bali for three months of a year. This meant she needed a career that could be done remotely, she needed a ballpark figure to hit monthly money-wise, and she needed to be her own boss. All of these needs, led to her creating Brand Babes Studio and focusing on making her work part of her dream life, rather than just a means to an end.


4. Cut out the things that don’t serve you.

Once you have a clear vision in mind and know what you need to make happen to get there, you need to focus. The decisions we make every day lead to the life we have, so start being more aware of what those decisions are. When you’re moving towards a goal you can’t be passive - keep asking yourself ‘will this move me towards that Babe’n life I desire?’ Cutting out the things that don’t serve you also means cutting out your excuses - if you want it, get it.


5. Ask for help.

Babe you know better than to do it on your own! Yes you are a strong, kick-ass woman, but asking for help is never a bad thing. Ask people who have the life you want how they got there. Ask your friends who are great at goal setting for some tips. Ask your family if they’d be happy to look after your stuff while you’re away so you don’t have to pay for storage. Ask, ask, ask. You never know what will come of it.
